Welcome to the Auction Inn blog, where you can take a look into the soul of our organization, and learn some things about selling goods and services online. We are not an eBay “Drop Off Shop”, but a full service eBay marketing agency providing an easy, efficient, and effective way for individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations take full advantage of the powerful online marketplaces, most prominently eBay. We are experts at selling online, from our marketing team to our operations team to customer service. We have specialists in commercial sales, automobile sales, and fundraising for nonprofits. Through our Auction Inn Showcase service, we have become the leading advocate and expert for selling antiques and collectibles online. Our marketing team now has two certified eBay education specialists, helping to develop the eBay marketplace in our local areas. We will bring you regular insights from our entire team in this blog.
In our first year of operations, we have built a very strong foundation as an eBay marketing service for the entire community here at Auction Inn. Our success is due to the partnership we established with the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster, and is supported by our Work-Able job training partners - Manheim Auto Auction, Bosch Security Systems, UPS, Emerald Asset Management and QVC. We are proving that you can be a strong, profitable company with a social mission, in this case helping nonprofit organizations raise additional funding for their programs, and provide marketable first time job skills for inner city youth. You can look for us in the coming year to begin to expand our operations into additional geographical areas in partnership with nonprofit organizations, and bring these same benefits to other communities.
We hope you will join us as regular readers of our blog, and we welcome your comments and criticisms. Please feel free to contact me or any of the Auction Inn team, we are always up for a discussion about eBay and the online marketplaces.
Sincerely,
Robert Musser

As nonprofit organizations embrace the concept of Social Enterprise and begin to plan their earned income venture, one of the main issues they run into is the form their new organization will take. As a new nonprofit venture, they will likely have limited means of accessing capital, and they may run into problems in competing with for-profit corporations. On the other hand, corporate structures do not tend to recognize the public benefits that are at the core of a social enterprise, and nonprofits have traditionally had difficulty raising money for a for-profit venture.
To address this issue, the Vermont Legislature has recently passed a bill that authorizes a new type of company, called a L3C or "low-profit, limited liability company". A L3C is a platform which combines the best features of a for-profit LLC with the socially beneficial aspects of a nonprofit. It is a for-profit with a nonprofit soul. As of May 1, 2008 the L3C is available for use anywhere that LLC’s are recognized.
The L3C is particularly designed to increase the number of program-related investments, or PRI’s, that foundations make in social enterprises by making them easier to find and fund. There is also the hope that foundation investment in those ventures would initiate an influx of private capital. This new company type has the potential to be a big help to Nonprofits as they try to find the optimal model for sustained success in their social enterprises.

Current Events
Auction Inn Lancaster is very excited to be aiding two very prominent organizations in their fundraising efforts this month. Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center of Lancaster County is currently accepting donations, as well as the Spina Bifida Association of Greater Pennsylvania.
Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center of Lancaster County is a not-for-profit organization that currently aids in educating and providing therapy for infants, children, and adolescents with disabilities. Their work in Lancaster county and the surrounding area has been paramount for children and adolescents with these developmental conditions, and Auction Inn is truly proud to be standing behind an association of this magnitude. Any money generated from this fundraiser will enable them to continue helping Lancaster county youth with developmental delays.
The Spina Bifida Association Of Greater Pennsylvania is another non profit agency that serves those who were born with Spina Bifida. Their aim towards education and awareness is one that can not be rivaled, and any funds that are raised from this event will help them continue their education and aid for those stricken with this disease. Employees of Auction Inn were also fortunate enough to meet Amy and her daughter Tara, who has been diagnosed with Spina Bifida. We were able to discuss briefly with Tara what the organization does and what this fundraiser means to her as well as others that share her condition. CLICK HERE for the YouTube video. Spina Bifida association will be accepting donations at their local office at:
